Liverpool midfielder Thiago Alcantara was dealt another injury blow after his recent return to action against Arsenal last week.

The Spaniard suffered a hip injury late last season and has been out of action for the majority of the current campaign. After impressing in training with the Reds, he made his return when Jurgen Klopp substituted him on in the 85th minute of the 3-1 loss against Arsenal last week. However, he is set for yet another spell on the sidelines, reports.

Thiago suffered a muscle problem during the game but was able to see out the remainder of the Premier League match. He is expected to miss his team's next game against Burnley, while Klopp could also be without Dominik Szoboszlai and Mohamed Salah. Watary Endo may be back for the Anfield team after his efforts in the 2023 Asian Cup with Japan.

Thiago, who joined Liverpool from Bayern Munich in 2020, has made a total of 98 appearances for Klopp's side but managed only one appearance so far this term, totalling 13 minutes of action. He is contracted to the club until the end of the season and it is not yet known if he will be released or tied to an extension before then.
